Snoop Dogg's new smoke-free high: THC and CBD drinks, part of "my smoking evolution"

It's not just gin and juice anymore for Snoop Dogg. The rapper and entrepreneur is launching a new line of THC and CBD beverages.
The Do It Fluid drinks includes four flavors: Blood Orange, Blue Razz, Cherry Limeade and Peaches N' Honies – each available in CBD-only versions ($4.99 per can) and versions with CBD and hemp-derived Delta-9 THC ($5.99 per can). They are available now online on the Death Row Cannabis and Hill Beverage websites.
Hill Beverage Co. was launched earlier this year by Snoop Dogg and CEO Jake Hill, who has started multiple cannabis companies including Grow Automations, which helps growers get the most from their pot-growing enterprises. Death Row Cannabis uses Grow Automations' technology and led to the drinks venture.
“As I take the next step forward in my smoking evolution, Hill Beverage Co.’s vision for cannabis beverages was the perfect transition," said Snoop Dogg in a statement accompany the product announcement. “What we’ve created is an all-natural and delicious alternative that doesn’t sacrifice the high, while providing fans with the perfect option for day or night.”
No, Snoop Dogg isn't quitting cannabis:Here's why he's 'giving up smoke'
The rapper isn't a newcomer to the cannabis business, either. He previously founded his own marijuana brand Leafs By Snoop in 2015. But since buying Death Row Records in 2022, he shelved that brand for the new Death Row Cannabis brand, which became available in California earlier this year and has since expanded to Michigan with more locations planned.
And earlier this year, Snoop Dogg's licensed D*gg lbs cannabis products became available in Ontario, Canada, and in Israel.
The Cherry Limeade and Peaches N' Honies drinks carry the Dogg Lbs. label, while the Tha Shiznit Blue Razz and G'Dup Blood Orange flavors carry the Death Row Records label.
"Snoop wanted to launch his own functional beverages in the cannabis and hemp space, and understands that beverages will be a prominent component of the future of cannabis consumption," Tiffany Chin, CEO of Death Row Records Cannabis, told USA TODAY. "This line offers an alternative for his fans and general consumers who may not be interested in traditional smoking or vaping, and are more comfortable with the idea of drinking a beverage to unwind."
What is in Snoop Dogg's new THC and CBD beverages?
The CBD-only beverages come in 12-oz. cans and contain 25 milligrams of CBD. The THC with CBD versions come in 8-oz. cans and contain 5 milligrams of CBD and 3mg of Delta-9 THC. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the substance that gives cannabis psychoactive properties and results in getting "high," but in this case, the drinks use a hemp-derived version of THC.
The lowest-calorie option is Peaches N' Honies: 10 calories for the 8-oz. CBD+THC mini cans and 15 for the 12-oz. slim cans. Blood Orange has the highest calorie count: 60 calories for the 8-oz. CBD+THC version and 90 for the 12-oz. CBD version – traditional soft drinks may have 150 calories in 12 ounces.
The Do It Fluid drinks are also made with carbonated water, cane sugar, fruit juice concentrate, monk fruit, natural flavor and other ingredients, as well as terpenes, which are the chemical compounds in cannabis and hemp responsible for aroma and flavor.
A "proprietary terpene cannabinoid blend" delivers an effect from the THC and CBD in the drinks within "minutes, rather than a typical 30-minute to one-hour onset that’s offered by most competitors," Hill told USA TODAY. "We thoughtfully created an enjoyable experience and a healthy alternative under 90 calories that isn’t overwhelming – consumers can live a social lifestyle without having to consume alcohol or smoke."
What do the Snoop Dogg's new THC and CBD drinks taste like?
The Dogg Lbs. drinks have "highly refreshing tastes that are enjoyable by the pool or beach, at the bar, in a restaurant or at home," Hill said. The two Death Row Records drinks are "full bodied" with "sweet flavors (and) a refreshing kick that is great for day or night," he said.
What effects do these new THC and CBD drinks give you?
"The feelings I’ve personally experienced from the Do It Fluid line is based on what I am doing," Hill said. "If I’m in a social mood, I’ll feel more uplifted and less anxious. If I’m winding down, the drinks will cause me to feel more relaxed and ready for bed. If I’m already in bed with a drink, it helps create a more restful sleep."
